Q. Where do I learn more
about the Salt/C protocol?
A. See http://www.fettnet.com/lymestrategies/
Q. What is the Advanced Section? How do I join?
A. It is an organized reference section that gets into greater detail regarding
the lyme protocol - how to do it, what items are needed and where to find them,
what to expect while on the protocol, the background behind the protocol and
items, what the salt is doing in the body, supporting adjunct protocols, and
more. It is the exact, step-by-step "hat" of the author of Lyme
Strategies in recovering his health. You can join at http://www.fettnet.com/lymestrategies/signup.htm
Q. Can I use Kosher salt or pickling salt?
A. No, while they may not contain all the other ingredients in table salt, it
still contains the same "bad" refined commercial salt.
Q. Where do I buy the pure salt (like CMC salt) online?
A. See the "Salts" link at the "Links" section of this
board.
Q. Where do I buy the "natural" salts you
recommend (like RealSalt, Celtic Salt, Krystal salt)?
A. See the "Salts" link at the "Links" section of this
board.
Q. How does Rife and Salt/c "mix"?
A. The Salt protocol seems to enhance the effectiveness of rife. Over time, the
rife seems to be less effective--spacing of rife sessions can be increased and
duration of rifing sessions can be shortened. This is good as this is a
sign that the bugs are being eliminated.
Q. Does Salt/C force the bugs into the cystic states?
A. We don't think so, and in fact, we believe this protocol may actually be
effective killing the cystic forms, which makes this protocol different from and
potentially more effective than many other protocols.
Q. Can I take antibiotics while doing the Salt/C
protocol?
A. Yes, but be aware that antibiotics will kill of the friendly flora in
the stomach and can cause elimination to be slowed unless lots of probiotics,
water and good oils (olive oil) on foods. It is wise to eventually
"wean off" antibiotics for ultimate, overall health. Discuss
this with your doctor.
Q. I've heard that this protocol could cause critical
mineral imbalances and organ dysfunction. Should I have regular blood test
looking for kidney and liver function as well as mineral measurements?
A. Medical tests so far, regarding blood, minerals, kidney/liver and heart have
all been favorable to-date. But we encourage reporting for a larger sampling. It
is suspected the reduction of bacterial activity overall improves sufficiency in
organs and fluids. We invite and encourage anyone out there who has the access
and means to test, if possible, and report it.
Q. Does this protocol raise the blood pressure?
A. A temporary rise in blood pressure has been noted by some--this is consistent
with herx reaction (microbial die-off and released toxins). Overall, if the
correct salts are used, blood pressure is generally not raised, and in fact is
sometimes lowered.
Q. Should the dose vary based on body weight?
A. Yes. It appeared that the protocol as initially presented at the LP site was
in the range of 1 gram S/C per 12 lbs of body weight. However, it is has been
appearing in recent research that 1 gram of each per 14-15 lbs may be
sufficient. We are continuing to experiment with this. In the meantime, just the
general rule-of-thumb of at least 8x/day for a adult with symptoms (and can go
up to 12x/day for 150-200 lb adult) - and stay on this (it is the consistency
that does the job) - is the goal. For children, it would be half the amount as
an adult.
Q. Will I gain weight or have bloating due to the salt
intake?
A. No, if you use the correct salts.
Q. What
brand of Vitamin C should I use?
A. Any brand is ok, even the discount brands. The buffered kinds are
also ok, especially for those with tender tummies.
Q. I
can't swallow pills--can I dissolve the salt and C in something and drink it?
A. Yes, some are having great success mixing a full day's worth of salt and C
into a large container of pure water. (See "Mixture Method" at
the "Links" section of this board.)
Q: Will I herx from Salt/C like other
effective Lyme treatments?
A: Yes, you can expect pronounced herxing in effected and even new areas of the
body in: - the 4-6 weeks area - the 8-10 week area - the 12-14 week area - the
18-20 week area - the 6-month area - a very strong one around the 8-9 month
area. And some symptoms may ebb and flow throughout, but gradually effect
less and less.
Q: You recommend Colloidal Silver (CS) as an
adjunct treatment to Salt/C. How does one use Colloidal Silver?
A: Like the S/C, start on a gradient. Start with 2oz in the AM and 2 oz in
the PM and work up to 4oz - always watching and listening to the body for
herxing. Wherever there is a stiff reaction, back down a little and let it pass.
Some lymies have done well on 4oz 2x/day for a long extended regimen, and some
lymies have done even more (8oz 2x/day). It has been to be quite safe for
extended use at any of these. Go by your own indicators. It seems to be more
effective if taken on an empty stomach. Use good quality CS with minimum 10ppm.
